Image, by Leonard Shlain (Good reference on early writing, a surgeon who takes
a secular look at centuries of belief systems and cultures to answer what
happened to the goddess worship)
- The Baloney Code by Davis Sweet, (lives in Aloha, Or, Funny, but
you have to read The Da Vinci Code first) ISBN 0-440-13648-2
- The Bible ( select a translation like RSV from earliest writings or
a paraphrase like TLV for easier reading)
- Bible History by Volrath Vogt, (a brief outline of Church history,
one can read the Bible in an hour, however it's no longer in print, Augsburg
Publishing House)
- The Bible as History by Werner Keller
- The Bible Speaks to You by Robert McAfee Brown
- The Bible Timeline by Thomas Robinson
- The Bibliography for The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown is listed on his
official web site.
I do not recommend any of books as most are listed under Esoteric Christianity

- Christianity, The First Three Centuries, From Christ to Constantine,
DVD by Paul Maier. Eight 20 to 30 min. sessions
- The Complete Bible Handbook by John Bowker
- The Complete Idiot's Guide to The Bible ISBN 0-02862728-8 (basic,
but quick and easy, good overview)
- Critiques of The Da Vinci Code:
- The Da Vinci Code: Fact or Fiction by Hank Hanegraaft and Paul Maier
